Pacemaker implantation Pacemaker implantation is a surgical procedure where a small electrical device called a pacemaker is implanted in your chest. The pacemaker sends regular electrical pulses that help keep your heart beating regularly.

Endocarditis Endocarditis is a rare and potentially fatal type of heart infection. It's specifically an infection of the inner lining of the heart (the endocardium), most commonly caused by bacteria entering the blood and travelling to the heart.
